The Crazy Piano Guy

After my group swim session, this is what I saw at W4 station while waiting for the E train:

He was playing Debussy's Claire de Lune. He had to lug his piano to the station. He played his heart out. He had a lot of dollars in his bucket. If this guy can get a piano into a train station and play for hours on end, I can get to my training sessions. He is in many ways an inspiration.

Today's swim session, in fact, was outstanding! I remember how exhausted I was after my first swim and even posted about it. This time, only 6 weeks later, I did the warm up and was actually excited to do more - not exhausted. Of course, by the time I finish after 45 minutes, I am heaving. And it's not like we are non stop lapping; we pause and listen to the lesson. We focus only on one side, then the other. But overall, I can feel the improvement in my endurance... it's pretty exciting.

Maybe that's why I was so touched when I heard the crazy piano guy. I was already in a state of happy.

Tony, thank you for your generosity and support. I may not have told you in so many words but I hope you know, that you are also my inspiration in so many ways.

I just watched like 12 Crazy Piano Man videos. I've never seen/heard of this!

But agreed, swimming yesterday: AMAZING. I have now gotten down the beat to the 2-beat stroke! :)

  2. I've watched him lug his piano into the station before. Now that I know he can, it's not as crazy, but that first time he attempted it, it must've been nuts!
